A whipped, cake-batter-textured cannabis concentrate. Easy to handle, big on flavor.
BOGO
Buy one get one — a common dispensary deal (sometimes buy-2-get-1, or get the second for $1).
Budtender
The salesperson behind the dispensary counter who helps you choose products.
Cannabinoid
An active compound in cannabis. THC and CBD are the famous two; CBN, CBG and CBC are minor ones.
CBD
Cannabidiol — a non-intoxicating cannabinoid used for calm and recovery. Won't get you high.
CBN
Cannabinol — a mildly sedating cannabinoid common in sleep products.
COA
Certificate of Analysis — the lab report showing a product's potency and that it passed pesticide and mold testing.
Concentrate
Any product made by extracting cannabinoids from flower — rosin, resin, badder, sauce, diamonds.
Decarboxylation
Heating cannabis to convert THCa into active THC. It's why you can't get high eating raw flower.
Diamonds
Crystalline THCa concentrate — among the most potent forms of cannabis.
Disposable
An all-in-one vape with the battery and oil built in. Use it up and recycle it.
Distillate
Highly refined, nearly pure THC oil. Potent and consistent; flavor is added back in.
Edible
Any cannabis you eat or drink — gummies, chocolate, beverages. Slow, strong and long-lasting.
Eighth
An eighth of an ounce of flower = 3.5 grams. The standard dispensary unit.
Entourage effect
The theory that cannabinoids and terpenes work better together than in isolation.
Flower
The dried, smokable bud of the cannabis plant. The classic form.
Hybrid
A strain bred from both indica and sativa genetics — most modern strains are hybrids.
Indica
Traditionally associated with relaxing, body-heavy effects (the 'in-da-couch' shorthand).
Infused pre-roll
A joint with concentrate and/or kief added to the flower for a much stronger hit.
Kief
The powdery resin glands that fall off flower — potent and used to boost joints or bowls.
Live resin
Concentrate from fresh-frozen plants, preserving terpenes and flavor. Uses solvents.
Live rosin
Solventless concentrate pressed from fresh-frozen hash with heat and pressure. Premium.
Microdose
A very small dose (often 2.5 mg THC or less) for subtle effects.
Pre-roll
A ready-to-smoke joint sold pre-rolled.
Sativa
Traditionally associated with uplifting, energizing, cerebral effects.
Sauce
A concentrate with a liquid, terpene-rich consistency, often with diamonds in it.
Strain
A specific cannabis variety with its own genetics, aroma and effect profile.
Terpenes
Aromatic compounds that give strains their smell and shape their effects. See our terpene guide.
THC
Tetrahydrocannabinol — the main intoxicating cannabinoid. The one that gets you high.
THCa
The non-psychoactive acid form of THC in raw flower; heat converts it to THC.
Tincture
A liquid cannabis extract taken under the tongue for precise, fast dosing.
Topical
A cannabis cream, balm or lotion applied to skin for localized relief — usually no high.
Vape cart
A cartridge of cannabis oil that screws onto a 510-thread battery.
Zip
Slang for one ounce (28 grams) of flower.
